The Spine Program at MountainView
As part of The Spine Program, we offer a dedicated spine coordinator. This person helps patients and family members stay with us by providing services like patient education, personal visits while the patient is in the hospital and discharge planning assistance. Additionally, the spine coordinator serves as a liaison between the patient and physician to offer personalized attention and an enhanced experience.
Spinal conditions we treat
Our spine specialists offer various types of orthopedic care for conditions, injuries and diseases that affect the neck, back and spinal cord. These conditions include:
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Bone spurs
- Bulging disc
- Chiari malformation
- Compression fracture
- Degenerative disc disease
- Facet joint arthropathy
- Failed back syndrome
- Flatback syndrome
- Foraminal stenosis
- Herniated disc
Some of the spine and neck procedures we perform include:
- Laminectomy—In a laminectomy, the surgeon removes part of the vertebra (bone). This helps ease pressure on the spinal cord or the nerve roots caused by injury, herniated disk or spinal stenosis.
- Spinal fusion—Doctors connect two or more vertebrae in your spine, which prevents the vertebrae from moving. This eliminates any pain caused by the small bones moving in the spine.
- Discectomy—A discectomy is a procedure that removes herniated disc material pressing on a nerve or the spinal cord.
