Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education (GME) Consortium proudly recognizes the second class of 20 Internal Medicine residents as well as the “graduating” 13 Transitional Year residents entering the next phase of their residency.
Now that the residents have graduated from three years of Internal Medicine training, they can sit for the medical board exams and upon successful completion; they can practice independently in our communities.
“We are very excited to see how far the Sunrise Health GME Consortium has come,” said Jeremy Bradshaw, MountainView Hospital Chief Executive Officer. “The Sunrise Health GME Internal Medicine Residency Program, based at MountainView, received accreditation in September 2015. The program is already graduating its second class of residents, and we look forward to greeting the next class that will be joining us next month.”
This second class of 20 Internal Medicine residents were matched and started their residency as PGY1 residents at MountainView Hospital in 2016. In the same year, MountainView Hospital opened the MountainView Medical Associates practice, an outpatient clinic, which focuses on providing exceptional care in an academic environment.
Since its inception, the Sunrise Health GME Consortium has grown and received accreditation for General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Transitional Year, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Psychiatry, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The Consortium will also welcome fellows in both Endocrinology and Gastroenterology starting August 1, 2019.
“Graduate medical education opportunities have been growing in Las Vegas, and the growing Sunrise Health GME enterprise has significantly contributed to that growth. It allows medical students more options for local medical residency, with the vision of growing the base of practicing physicians in southern Nevada to serve our community and improve the access of patient care,” said Dr. Ferenc Puskas, Designated Institutional Official.
The Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium currently has 153 residents based at MountainView and Southern Hills, and 92 new, talented residents will be joining the program in July. Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education received a significant amount of applications for a limited number of positions, and successfully matched and filled all resident positions again.
