MountainView Hospital welcomed its inaugural class of pharmacy residents at a white coat ceremony this week.
The talented group of three residents are the first class of postgraduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy residents at MountainView Hospital.
“We are very excited to welcome our first class of Pharmacy residents,” said Francisca Akoh, Pharmacy Director at MountainView Hospital. “Our program provides highly specialized rotations that aren’t always present or easy to find all in one program, and brings a diverse pool of clinical pharmacist preceptors from around the country whose diverse and wide range of experiences make the residency program rich.”
The three pharmacy residents, Peter Froio, Anita Lee and Jamal Sims, joined MountainView in July. They took part in the white coat ceremony that also welcomed 63 medical residents to MountainView Hospital.
“We welcome our first class of pharmacy residents to MountainView Hospital and look forward to integrating them into our culture of patients first,” said Jeremy Bradshaw, MountainView Hospital Chief Executive Officer. “These residents represent the maturing of our hospital as a teaching institution, bringing in new ideas, while allowing us to train the next generation of pharmacists for our community.”
MountainView Hospital’s Pharmacy Residency program is separate from the Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium and is solely based at MountainView Hospital.
