LAS VEGAS, NV NOVEMBER 23, 2015 – MountainView Hospital will open a Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center to serve patients with chronic wounds in an outpatient setting.
This new clinic will offer patients a variety of wound care treatment options, including state- of-the-art hyperbaric oxygen chambers. The center will employ four full-time employees and will be located on the first floor of the MountainView Hospital Medical Office Building. The center will open to patients December 1, 2015.
“This new service line has been a long time coming, and we are pleased to be able to offer this specialized care on an outpatient basis to the Las Vegas community,” said Chris Mowan, MountainView Hospital Chief Executive Officer.
While the center will focus its efforts on the treatment of chronic wounds, it will also offer relief for ulcers, infections and difficult-to-heal wounds.
The center’s advanced wound care team will offer:
- Thorough wound evaluation
- Assessment of risk factors
- Wound debridement
- Compression therapy
- Outpatient antibiotic management
- Vascular diagnostics
- Hyperbaric oxygen chamber
- Skin substitutes
- Treatment for radio necrosis (complication of cancer radiation treatments)
- Treatment of bone infections
“Our goal is to find the root cause of the wound, heal it, and prevent further problems or infections; all while using the latest treatments, therapies and services available,” said Diana Grimmesey, Director of the MountainView Hospital Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center.
The center will also include MountainView’s very first Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) is used to treat a variety of patients suffering from wounds or illnesses that deprive their bodies from adequate oxygen. HBO stimulates wound healing by saturating the wound with 100 percent oxygen from the inside-out. This can decrease swelling, infection and pain associated with both. These chambers are able to boost the body’s ability to heal wounds naturally by allowing more oxygen in the body. HBO is oftentimes the key to stimulate a difficult-to-heal wound when everything else has failed.
With nearly 6.5 million Americans suffering from chronic wounds¹, MountainView Hospital is eager to help patients in the community receive the care and help they need to live fulfilling, happy and thriving lives.
