Thank you for your interest in the MountainView Hospital PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program. While we are a new program, MountainView Hospital has a tradition of education, from advancing our clinical staff and nurses to launching the Sunrise Health System Graduate Medical Education Consortium for medical residents.
MountainView Hospital is a state-of-the-art, full-service medical facility located in the heart of Northwest Las Vegas, one of the fastest growing areas in the valley. MountainView features nationally recognized programs including a top cardiovascular and thoracic center, the renowned Las Vegas Institute for Robotic Surgery, an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Certified Stroke Center.
Other areas of excellence include emergency care, urology, wound care and gynecological services, orthopedics, vascular care and an inpatient rehabilitation unit. MountainView Hospital is recognized for high patient satisfaction and for creating a healing environment through attention to quality and compassionate care to our patients and their families.
This is a unique opportunity to join our inaugural Pharmacy Residency Program. We are pleased that you are interested and look forward to talking with you.
At MountainView Hospital Department of Pharmacy, we strive to help our residents achieve their full potential as clinicians and educators during PGY-1 training. This program is designed to provide training within a broad range of pharmacy practice settings, while remaining flexible enough to adapt to the needs and goals of the individual resident. At the end of this program, residents will be able to serve as independent patient care clinicians with leadership skills that can be applied in various practice settings, pursue a PGY-2 residency in a focused area of practice, and/or be suitably prepared for board certification examinations.
MountainView Hospital is a 341-bed acute care facility in northwest Las Vegas, Nevada and is part of the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) network of hospitals. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Hospital Corporation of America is the nation's leading provider of healthcare services, composed of locally managed facilities that include over 170 hospitals and 119 freestanding surgery centers located in 20 states and the United Kingdom.
Residents will work alongside 33 professional staff and 23 non-professional staff in a decentralized model, and will be mentored by Board Certified preceptors in a variety of specialized practice areas.
Residents will be extensively involved with the P&T process, will receive ACLS training to join in the Code Blue response teams, and will participate in the clinical pharmacist consult service, managing aminoglycoside, vancomycin, warfarin, and TPN dosing/monitoring, all while working with over 140 physicians in five specialties from the Sunrise Health System Graduate Medical Education Consortium.
In the future, our department looks to continue our commitment to excellence in patient care as MountainView expands to include a Level III NICU and additional service lines to meet the needs of the community.
