Go to MountainView Hospital

My story... Debra C.

Debra C., aka “Ms. Deb,” has been a fixture at MountainView Hospital since April 1996, joining just months after the hospital opened its doors to the community.

After 28 years at MountainView and 47 years in healthcare, Ms. Deb is retiring.

Ms. Deb started her career in 1977 as a dental assistant and was later promoted to dental office manager. She left that position after the dentist retired. While Ms. Deb was devastated that the practice closed, it was MountainView’s gain as she joined the hospital!

Over the years Ms. Deb has worked as a swing-shift lead, patient registration representative in Admitting. She later transitioned to a patient representative for the graveyard shift, which is the position she will retire from on Feb. 16, 2024.

There have been many fond memories over the years, she said, but she loved being allowed to be creative and decorate the department for fellow colleagues and patients to enjoy. Ms. Deb also enjoyed the Thanksgiving and holiday meals hosted in the cafeteria.

“It was like eating in an upscale restaurant with all the fancy deserts,” she said.

As Ms. Deb steps down from her position and enters retirement, she does have some parting words of wisdom for the next generation of healthcare workers: “Your self-worth is determined by you and either you run the day or the day runs you.”

In retirement Ms. Deb will enjoy being with her three great grandchildren, traveling and just relaxing and staying healthy!

Thank you Ms. Deb for all your contributions to MountainView and healthcare over the past 47 years.
