MountainView Hospital Recognized by Consumer Reports® for Heart Surgery Success
The July 2018 edition of Consumer Reports® magazine recognized MountainView Hospital for successes in heart surgery alongside 62 other hospitals nationwide. MountainView Hospital is the only hospital included in the list from Nevada.
The Consumer Reports® ratings were determined by data provided by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for hospitals that have agreed to share information. Hospitals recognized did well in heart bypass and aortic valve replacement surgery in terms of complications, mortality and other factors.
Consumer Reports® listed MountainView Hospital in the following categories: Coronary artery bypass surgery as “better than expected,” with ratings reflecting the hospital’s performance in isolated coronary artery bypass graft surgery between July 2016 and June 2017, and is a composite of many quality and performance measures, according to the magazine.
In the area of aortic valve replacement surgery, Consumer Reports® listed MountainView Hospital “as expected” in this procedure area. The rating reflects the hospital’s performance in surgical valve replacement surgery between July 2014 and June 2017 and is a composite of several quality and performance measures, according to the magazine. The rating does not reflect transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) data.

MountainView Hospital has earned a distinguished three-star rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons for its patient care and outcomes in isolated coronary artery bypass grafting procedures. The three-star rating denotes the highest category of quality, and places MountainView Hospital among the elite for heart bypass surgery in the United States and Canada.
